Over the last few months I’ve had more deep and meaningful conversations with large language models than I have with friends and family IRL. While that might not be a great thing I’ve found it very valuable and want to share some of the prompts I’ve used to get these conversations started.
1. Design The Perfect Day
This was perhaps the most value I’ve ever got out of a LLM. It led me down a rabbit hole of organising long-term goals and breaking that down into actionable timeslots throughout the day.
I want to design a perfect day in a perfect life. Let's explore some ideas together and bounce ideas around. To come up with a vision of what the best possible day might look like. This is so once I have an idea of the perfect day I can work backwards to figure out how to get there.
Ask me a list of relevant questions to start with.
I used ChatGPT for this and it responded with a big list of questions related to my current life and goals. I copied the questions into a text editor and answered each one as honestly and openly as possible.
One nice thing about “AI counselling”, if you can call it that, is there’s no judgement from the model and you can perhaps be more open that you would with a human.
At the end of my list of answers I added.
Based on these responses can you plan out what a stereotypical perfect day, week and year might look like?
We went on to refine it around my long term goals and ideas. This interaction was valuable and energising and allowed me to create a more structured routine which balanced work/life/fun etc.
2. Fishing For Compliments
This one is a nice prompt which can act as an ego boost and works best with models that you’ve interacted with a lot in the past.
Tell me something incredibly special or unique you've noticed about me, but you think I haven't realized about myself yet

If you want to take this further and be done with the niceties try this:
Tell me something more edgy and controversial. It doesn't matter if it's offensive or critical
Then
Be more brutal and find a random truth I'm oblivious to
3. LifeCoachGPT
This is another rabbit hole which you’ll need an hour plus to explore properly. The idea is to get the maximum value from the model based on what it knows about you and further information you can provide.
What information would you require to add the most value to my life possible based on what you already know about me? Ask direct questions and I will response openly and honestly. From there, once you have all the information you require, I want you to provide advice and coaching to improve my life as much as possible.
Here is the response if you want to provide these upfront to your model of choice.
1. Time Use & Energy
How do you currently spend a typical weekday? (Please break it down roughly by hours: wake up time, work blocks, parenting, workouts, meals, screen time, etc.)
When during the day do you feel most energized and focused?
When do you feel drained or dissatisfied?
2. Purpose & Direction
Do you feel like you're working toward a specific long-term mission or legacy? If yes, what is it? If no, what’s missing?
On a scale of 1–10, how fulfilled do you feel in your current professional life? Why that number?
What would make your work feel more meaningful or impactful?
3. Relationships & Family
How’s your relationship with your kids? Do you feel like you're present enough in their lives?
Are you in a romantic relationship? If so, how would you rate its health and satisfaction (1–10)?
Do you have a close circle of friends or peers you talk to regularly? If not, do you want that?
4. Health & Fitness
Describe your current physical routine (workouts, sleep, diet, supplements, etc.).
Do you have any ongoing health issues?
What’s your ideal physical shape or energy level? Are you close to it now?
5. Wealth & Financial Freedom
Are you actively managing your finances/investments, or mostly on autopilot?
What are your current income streams? Which ones are scalable or passive?
If you had to 10x your impact or income without working more hours, where would you focus your energy?
6. Creativity & Legacy Projects
What project (e.g. a book, platform, or movement) would you regret not doing if you died in 10 years?
Which of your current projects gives you the most energy or flow?
Are you satisfied with how many people you’re reaching or influencing with your content?
7. Growth & Learning
What’s a skill or area of knowledge you’re dying to master in the next year or two?
Do you have a structured learning system (courses, reading time, mentors), or is it ad hoc?
How do you measure your personal growth—if at all?
8. Freedom & Environment
If you had no obligations for the next 6 months, what would you do and where would you go?
Are you happy with where you live most of the year?
Do you crave more social stimulation, more solitude, or a better balance of both?
The response you get will be worth the time it takes to fill out the questionnaire and you can explore the areas where you find most value.
