7 Incredible Use Cases For ChatGPT

ChatGPT Use Cases

ChatGPT has become an invaluable tool since it’s release in 2022. Here are seven amazing use cases which you can take advantage of today.

  1. Language Partner
  2. Assisted Development
  3. Story Teller
  4. Dictator Editor
  5. Itinery Builder
  6. Research Analyst
  7. Brainstorming Partner

Language Partner

Learning a new language can be challenging, vraiment difficile, but ChatGPT can serve as an invaluable language partner. ChatGPT’s chat feature can be utilized as a voice tutor, it can engage in conversations, help with pronunciation, explain grammar rules, and simulate real life scenarios in the target language.

This interactive learning experience can significantly enhance language acquisition and boost confidence in speaking. While it’s not as effective as in person lessons or video calls with real tutors it does benefit from being always available without needing to book a lesson or commit to a schedule in advance.

Assisted Development

For developers, ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot have been game changers. As a coding assistant, it can help with debugging, offer suggestions for code optimization, and quickly output simple functions.

I would liken it to working with a junior developer that has limited abilities but can execute in 30 seconds. A lot of the work I do is in Solidity smart contracts where it’s not exactly proficient but for more widely used languages like JS, Python and web development it’s exceptional.

It is useful in debugging “I have this error, how to fix?” and great for tasks which would have been monotonous like code cleanup and commenting to natspec standards.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced coder, having a LLM by your side can streamline your development process and improve your coding skills. For the most complex tasks I prefer Claude over ChatGPT currently as I think it’s more capable of handling larger quantities of code and it’s been trained on more up to date content so it doesn’t use outdated libraries as much.

Story Teller

Imagine having a storyteller that can create unique bedtime stories based on the events of your day. ChatGPT can do just that! By inputting key events or themes from your day, it can weave imaginative tales that not only entertain but also help children process their daily experiences through storytelling.

You can ask it “write a childrens bed time story about a dolphin called Sheila who protected a crab called Hermie from sharks at a beach in France” and then either read it directly from the phone, get it read out loud by chatGPT (which kids love, probably because it’s last chance of screen time for the day) or what I like to do is commit as much as possible to memory while they are in the bath and then elaborate on the details.

Dictator Editor

For content creators that spend a lot of time on the road, ChatGPT can act as a personal editor. Simply dictate your thoughts while driving, and let ChatGPT clean up the transcription, removing background noise like sat nav instructions. This use case enhances productivity and ensures those hours spent travelling are not wasted.

I like to use a wireless microphone which is the same Rode Wireless Go I use in my Youtube videos. Plug the receiver into the phone using a standard USBC C lead, I have a right angle one as I find it sits better in the car. Then open up a dictation app, my favourite is the inbuilt Recorder app on Android which is also available at https://recorder.google.com

When you first see the transcripts you’ll be horrified at how unreadable and messy they are. Paste them into chatgpt and ask it to edit the transcript and you’ll be amazed at the results.

There’s something about dictating while driving which seems to let your thoughts flow freely.

Itinery Builder

Planning a trip to a new city? ChatGPT can be your virtual travel agent. Discuss your interests, preferences, and the duration of your stay, and it can help create a customized itinerary. From suggesting local attractions to scheduling activities, ChatGPT can make travel planning a breeze.

Test this out on a city you are already familiar with to see how effective it is. Tell it what your interests are and give some clues as to what you are looking for then let it pick out local hotspots and ideas for things to do. It’s extremely effective for cities and remote locations alike.

Research Analyst

For academics, researchers, or anyone dealing with dense technical papers, ChatGPT can be a valuable ally. It can condense text heavy documents into concise summaries, highlighting key points and fundamental concepts.

Most LLM’s will default to condensing documents down to lists and bullet points which may or may not be optimal so clearly describe the output format you find easiest to digest.

This use case saves time and improves comprehension of complex materials. To quote Winston Churchill’s famous memo on brevity “the saving in time will be great, while the discipline of setting out the real points concisely will prove an aid to clearer thinking”

Brainstorming Partner

For me this is the most widely used task I submit daily to ChatGPT.

Whether you’re developing a business strategy or deciding what to have for dinner, ChatGPT can be an excellent brainstorming partner. Its ability to generate diverse ideas and think outside the box makes it an invaluable tool for creative problem solving and decision making in both professional and personal contexts.

  • I have these ingredients what can I cook?
  • Brainstorm brand name ideas for an AI on the blockchain startup
  • What are the possible benefits (not features) of this product?
  • What are some creative ways to celebrate a team achievement remotely?
  • Suggest unique gift ideas for a person that likes golf, fishing, surfing
  • Develop a list of blog post topics for a blockchain developer website
  • Complete this list of dumb brainstorming ideas…
