Facebook taking on Google Adwords

29th September 2014 – More details coming in about this. Facebook is expected to make an announcement tonight about the new ad platform. Early reports suggest it is a reworked version of Atlas which they acquired from Microsoft. The key principle is laser targeting across multiple devices. So you can target the same user on their phone, tablet and laptop. Some more details here:

This could be a game changer for publishers and advertisers. Adwords has never been good for demographic targeting so with Faceboooks wealth of user data could they drastically improve CPM’s for web publishers based on demographic target?

Look at what they do now with tiny little ads hidden away on a users Facebook page. Imagine being able to launch a campaign across the web with the same targeting using standard IAB sized banners…
